84% viscose/ 16% nylon (polyamide) fabric, with a "creased" effect running down the length of the fabric. Has average smoothness and softness for this type of fabric. The light-coloured parts are slightly translucent. Fabric has very good drape with some structure, body, and movement. Originally used for tops, but could be used for a wide range of garments such as dresses, shirts, etc. Click this link for a sample garment image.
This fabric features a large scale placement print of palm trees or leaves in inky shades of brown, ochre, soft black, greens from chartreuse to emerald, and pops of ultramarine. The full design repeats every 1.6m or so, but the start/ end point of the design is not obvious, so the fabric is sold by the metre, as per usual. (A full pattern repeat is not required to make a garment.) The width of the design is about 78cm at the widest part, although it varies, and there is solid almond or peachy beige-coloured fabric on either side of the design.
General info:
All fabrics in this update are woven of plant-based fibres in one direction, and polyamide/ nylon in the other direction (typically the warp or lengthwise yarns). Polyamide adds strength, body, and stability, without adding too much weight. The plant-based fibres take colour well and keep the fabric feeling softer against the skin. One thing I like about this type of fabric is that it drapes well yet tends to skim the body, rather than cling to it.
