170gsm waxed effect linen, by metre

An interesting pure linen plain weave fabric with a waxed effect that makes it extremely smooth and slightly shiny on the right side. It also changes the way the fabric behaves so it's more structured and drapes less fluidly than a typical pure linen, though it does still have some drape. I am not sure of the exact treatment used to produce this effect, but it seems to be embedded into the fabric and is not a separate synthetic coating such as PVC. The fabric seems quite water-resistant (water left on the surface didn't soak in even after 15 minutes). Colour is a medium-dark steel grey (lighter on the reverse side) and is opaque on the skin. Fabric is smooth and relatively soft to the touch, comfortable on the skin and specifically designed for clothing such as lightweight summer blazers and outerwear. Also suitable where you want a unique look for clothing such as tops, shirts, blouses, tunics, dresses, bottoms such as pants and shorts, men's shirts and kid's wear. My test piece barely shrank and softened slightly but did not lose the waxed effect after washing a couple of times.
